Relaxing Sun-day, gourmet sun-evening

A little brunch at the apartment with Pomegranate Cranberry mimosa’s, eggs and sausage, roasted squash, and marinated cucumber salad — and the Seattle Times and New York Times Sunday editions.

All that, of course, leads to nap time.

Tonight is dinner for five at the home of Anita and Lars. Anita runs cooking classes on Mercer Island. Chris is bringing Presecco (Italian sparkling wine), and I’m bringing two bottles of Bonny Doon wine (2004 Rose Vineyard Mourvedre and 2004 Cigare Alternative C), neither of which are available commercially — only through their wine club DEWN (Doon Esoteric Wine Network).

And what a menu….
appetizer — three little petit points of a swedish nature (Veuve Clicquot), then the Presecco)
soup — orange carrot ginger soup with cream fresh and sherry
main — parboiled asparagus, rosette au gratin, seared rosemary lamb chops (the two bottles of Bonny Doon and an Austrialian Shiraz)
salad — regional olive oil, balsamic, roasted hazelnuts, pomegranates, and mixed field greens
stinky swedish cheese with succulent pears, fresh figs, and jumbo seedless grapes with a garnish of imported Italian cheeses.
and for dessert — French apple tart (not too sweet, wonderful) with fresh whipped cream and sprigs of mint
and lars’ special coffee.

And for that perfect cocktail for fall, check out the perfect Manhattan on the Shirt’s of Bamboo Blog.
