Into town, out of town, into town

Train arrived a few minutes early — was back at the apartment by the train was originally due. Time to pick up packages, get a little lunch and head off a little early for the 3:30 ferry since it’s raining to beat the band. Streams are flooded, one of the airport parking structure entrances is under water. Rain, rain, everywhere.

Left the apartment at 1pm, got back at 8pm — not a bad turnaround since there were two ferries involved, three if you count me.

On a totally different tack: why Ford (as in the automaker) is in the toilet. Quality, is aparently, job 4 or 5 (not Job 1). See the photo below for the misapplied rattle dampening caulk on the trunk lid of the Ford Focus that I rented from Avis.

Bad caulking on the Ford Focus rental from Avis.

And while we are yanking the chains of American corporations — let’s take on Delta Airlines. Honest, I’d prefer a Southern accent when I call to change seats or reservations details — rather than “Paging Bangalore”. Not that I’m against India, I was there when I was 20 years old, and that was 30 years ago, and it was an eye-opening experience. Means my passport is always the “extended” version, and always valid. It also annoys me that I have to cost the eight dollars (the average cost of a customer service call) just to change my Delta Skymiles number to my Alaska Mileage Plan number.
