Noon fifty direct flight to JFK on Delta — at the other end of the airport from the Alaska Board Room — and no underground tram. The things I do for a couple of free drinks before a long flight in an “A” seat. Oh, and a lunch of snacks as well.
Off to NYC to see Davey and MJ and get a little work done in the city of lights…. oops, that’s Paris. Davey is an old roommate from college who just appeared in the Food Network Candy Castle Challenge filmed at the Mall of America, MJ is wife and talented artist.
So, the 12:50 flight which I was hoursearly for so I could sit in the Alaska Board room and swill down champagne and cranberry juice and make a breakfast and lunch out of their english muffins (breakfast) and carot/celery/cheese with ranch (lunch). So, 12:50, then I get a call on the cell phone, delayed until 4:30 (ick), then half an hour later, another call, moved up to 1:30. Finally took off at 2, arriving only 15-20 minutes behind schedule.
AirTrain to the A train — lots of stops since I was at the far end of the route. A train (local at that time of night) to the F train, transfer at Washington Square/4th. F train a couple of stops and call Davey since the previous plan was to call from 4th and he’d meet me at Delancy. Popped above ground and knew where I was…. the lower east side of Manhattan.
Drinks and nibbles and catching up into the wee hours of the moring. Bed calls.
