Oh Canada, Victoria here we come.

Didn’t pack last night, too knackered. Just means up earlier, and crankier.

Our route this morning:

Seattle to the Victoria Ferry

All I can say about this morning is “cluster fuck”. If it could go wrong it did. Leaving at 9am… but Chris was still in the office at 9:15. Came back with a “postage due” tag from the post office…. the towelettes that have been lost in transit for a week. Another fifteen minutes of waiting in line. Finally left the city at 9:45am. No way to make the 10:10 ferry out of Edmonds to keep us on schedule… but the next Bainbridge ferry (the alternate route) wasn’t until 10:45, as was the next Edmonds (which was the shorter route).

Chris big-footed it up the freeway and we ACTUALLY made the 10:10 ferry by one car — had the Amtrak train not just come through and held up ferry loading we would have missed it.

We celebrated with champagne (courtesy of Amtrak, humorously enough, from the Shelby trip) and pommegranate juice on ther ferry ride to Kingston. Back on schedule, my anxiety level started to drop.

Halibut fish and chips at Landing’s Restaurant by the Coho ferry dock with one of their wonderful bloody marys. A bottle of Macallan Cast Strength at duty-free for $47 a liter ($54 for a 750ml at the state liquor stores).

Uneventful ferry ride and pass through customs. Of course, we were one of the last cars off the ferry so everyone was at the condos by the time we arrived. I’d reserved three two bedroom condos at the WorldMark Victoria. One of the condos was for the “married” couple, one for the singles, and one for Curt and I — the one with the hot tub in addition to the bbq on the deck.

A shopping run yielded salad, bread, vegetables, and the res of goodies to go with the meat I’d brought from Seattle. I bar-b-qued, Rich did the vegetables, and Spencer set the table. Dinner for 7 since Martin and Brian couldn’t wait until 7:30 to eat. If they’d told us of that “food preference” we would have eaten earlier, but I also think they want to spend lots of time on their own as witnessed by poker in Whitsler, Canada a couple of years ago.

Lots of drinking before dinner, lots of wine with dinner, lots of good fun all around. Haven’t a clue what time bed was.
