Vancouver here we come.

Off to Vancouver — hoping for the 1pm ferry from Swartz Bay since the next is at 3pm (no 2pm ferries this time of year). Groceries and leftovers are packed for the trip — two 1.5 liter bottles of wine, a couple of half 750ies, salad, stew, bread, more stuff than I can remember at this point.

The ferry to Tsawwassenmay or may not run this morning to to high winds. All the morning runs were cancelled, with the first one going out at noon. We were on the 1pm ferry which put us on the mainland at 2:30 — the boat we wanted, we just had to show up early.

Got to Vancouver at 3:30 to find us in middle of the Santa Claus parade traffic. Well, it was the traffic leaving and the blockades still up. Check-in time is 4pm at the WorldMark Vancouver. We were stuck for an hour trying to get to the WorldMark, which, unfortunately, was located ON the parade route. Chris was not a happy camper.

Settled in for a quite evening of leftovers (“not lamb” stew with the left over stir fry, salad and wine). Can’t drink the water — but I still made ice for my scotch since at 114.6 proof I figure it will kill anything in the water that is a little cloudy from all the rain. There is a city wide “boil water” order — for Vancouver, a HUGE city. Amazing.

After amid-evening run to the IGA for breakfast and lunch supplies I’m in the sack by 10pm.
