A lazy day at the former McCormick Ranch — McCormick for the farm implement manufacturer on one side and Rockefeller on the other.
Newspapers and coffee, computer work, toast for breakfast or wait for lunch. Wait for lunch. Mom has the plan. Delux Burgers. DAMN GOOD. I had the Ahi Fish Burger and mom had the DeLux Burger — we split both and shared. Dad had the Classic, we all split a “Fries ala Cart” — french fries and sweet potato fries in a bag in a mini shopping cart.
Shopped for dinner after lunch (breakfast for me) — met with the butcher (woman) to get a 3 or 4 bone standing rib roast with mixed fingerling potatoes for dinner — a serious Sunday roast at six pounds. Salad, bread, and three bottles of wine fill the cart. Savings of $43.00 on a final bill of $110 for dinner.
The afternoon is mail, work, email, and laying in the sun reading all the papers looking for blog ideas. Got to work on that tan. Not bad here on the eighth green. Photos below since we haven’t had any photos for a couple of days.
Well, at least until 3:30 when it’s time for the roast to go in. Potatoes an hour later. Salad prepped, and everything ready for when Kennan, Jen, Emily and Karen show up for unit 37.
Ah, family. The road folks are so happy to have a meal ready. And a good meal it is. First wine is a Peachy Canyon Incredible Red Zinfandel, followed by a Coppola Claret. Add in the Manhattans for my mother and the scotch for me.
Emily and Karen bolt from the table for the Disney Channel after dinner. The adults stay around.
