Rain and sun moving toward snow on return.

Well, the good times in Tucson are coming to a close. Was up at 6am to put the top of on the car — had gotten up for a bathroom break when I heard the sprinkles on the skylight.

Today is filled with work, leftover ribs, and a chef salad for lunch. My flight isn’t until 9:20 this evening, but will leave for Phoenix around 4pm when Joe goes back to school for his last class of the day.

I’ve put in text message alerts from Alaska for myself and Chris about departure (me) and arrival (Chris) delays. Severe weather alert starting at 6pm and running to midnight for snow. And, of course, I’m on the last flight out for the day. So far it’s on time.

Fairly light traffic on the way back to Phoenix, though the turn-off for the rental car return is WAY beyond the airport turnoff — like past a major turnoff for another freeway and a couple of miles. Gas it up and turn it in.

Total: $78.35
Daily rate – $11.00, Consolidated Facility Fee $4.50 a day for $18.00,Consolidated Rec Fee (?), 11.11% for 4.89, Sales Tax of 10.1% for $6.76, City Surcharge of 3.25% for 2.50, and finally an Arizona Surcharge of 5% for another $2.20.

Bottom line: $44.00 in car charges. $34.35 in taxes and fees. Is this good for tourism?

Reports of snow until 3am from the wife of the guy I’m sharing the table with in the bar — good booze (Knob Creek), OK sandwich — good pastrami, Swiss, good dark rye (though too thick for me). Yesterday they bumped me to First Class — Seat 1D, so it should be a good flight north.

Now we are officially a half an hour late. But at least the plane is in the air, and they don’t want it to spend the night in Phoenix.
