Greetings from Reno. So far, I’m up $75 without stepping into a casino, unless you count the Reno airport where there are slot machines by all the gates. I had planned on a “presentation” at 11am with the Trendwest folks in exchange for $75. 45 minutes, $75 — sounded like a good deal. An even better deal is that they double booked and just gave me the incredibly hard to use Amex Gift Cards. If you use them in a restaurant — they automatically whack you with a 18-20% gratuity. God forbid you try and use it for more than a $25 purchase, it will be turned down. I tend to use it for grocery store purchases making sure I don’t go over the amount.
Today’s non-work project is National Auto Museum. It’s about an eight block walk from the condo. Which reminds me —I need to see about a different room, I’d like the heat to work in my bedroom, and to be further up in the sky, the second floor is even with the street lights. So — the Museum was great. I happened to stumble in at 12:15 and the only docent led tour on Sundays starts at 12:30 — and runs for an hour and a half. It did make the visit much more informative with all the back ground (like the collection used to be 1400 cars and now it is 200-300 cars). And I know it’s silly, but the original bat mobile was there. It beat out the Frank Sinatra Ghia and Harrah’s owners Jeep Wagoneer that will do 140mph since it has a Ferrari engine and transmission (and is still four wheel drive!) along with black ice detectors since he used it to commute in the winter between Reno, Tahoe, and his place in Idaho. Below are some pics… two of the bat mobile, one of Frank’s Ghia.
All the rest of the pics from this trip can be found at my channel on Twangoincluding Lana Turner’s red with cream upholstery double roadster.
Got a call while at the musuem that they’d found another room for me — one off the second floor (see picture with street lights even with the window) to something on the other side of the building (where I actually get wi-fi from one of the neighbors).
Dinner tonight is a repeat of last night. Broiled steak — too lazy to go down to 2 and use the bar-b-que, caesar salad, wine. All this followed by getting a little work done before Chris arrives tomorrow sometime.
Tomorrow getting together with Ursich for a Breitenbush Hot Springs winter gathering meeting (and dinner).
