So — I’m so tired of unreliable Internet access while on the road and in Seattle as well. The Wi-Fire high gain antenna is great, but it still requires munching off someone else’s connection that may or may not be reliable, or even available. And the backup of the T-Mobile GPRS/Edge card means I can’t use my phone at the same time.
Solution: Sprint’s EVDO service, which is about DSL speed. Noticed an ad yesterday in the New York Times that they are now giving away the EVDO cards with a two year commitment, and the ad said, no voice plan needed — that was the kicker that stopped me from doing this a year ago — without a phone contract as well, it jumped from $59.99 to $79.99 for the unlimited plan – and I like my T-Mobile GPRS/EDGE plan since it works overseas and only costs an extra $19.95 a month for unlimited use in the US.
Twango meeting from 10-12pm, grab lunch and run out the door at 12:15pm headed for the Sprint office between 5th and 6th on Union. Half an hour on the meter just outside the store (amazing), and I am back at the apartment with the software and hardware installed, and on-line by 1:15pm. Now THAT is how computers are supposed to work.
A 2pm hookup off the Internet, then back to work before Jill comes over for dinner to discuss life, power-lifting competitions that Twango might cover, and Manhattans.
Dinner is a pork tenderloin that would have tasted better on the BBQ, salad, and a bottle of 2003 Ridge California Lytton East wine from Ridge’s Advance Tasting Program (ATP). A fine bottle of wine not commercially available, just to club members.
Walked Jill to the bus station since her car is in the shop til Friday. It’s amazing that the 17 (I think that’s what it is) goes straight from here, past her gym, right to her house off of Sand Point Way. If she didn’t have a dog, wouldn’t almost need a car.

It’s the 71…and good to know
Stumbling down the hill to the house was tough. Not as bad as taking the dog on the bus the next day (she has to pay full fare.)
