On the computer working most of today, then in the car on the ferry, then the run down the freeway to the city.
No photos, no time. Things to do and people to see. Like Jill who is dropping off her food processor so we can make latkes tomorrow night for the Annual Tequila and Latke Chanukah Party. The tradition of this party goes back to the big snow storm of 1991 where I was trapped at Microsoft. Cindy, who worked with me at Microsoft Press, took in ten other people stuck at work since her apartment was snowshoeing distance — but the only thing she had was a bag of potatoes, sour cream, Costco size apple sauce, and oil. What to drink? The only alcohol in the house was a 1.5 liter bottle of Jose Cuervo. We were taught chanukah songs in Hebrew, and when it was time for bed, every coat in the house was used as blankets.
And we celebrate every year on one evening of the Chanukah celebration. Helene has hosted for the last dozen years, and now it comes back to me for this year.
Nothing but boring food today, Chris left me a little chicken Caesar in the fridge, and I had a burger and wine on the ferry boat. Well, not all boring — there was Freedom Toast made from challah for breakfast this morning.
