So — I get this email this morning. Buy my house. My friend Wonderful Jeff, who I’m going to Hawai’i with next month sends me email. Buy my house. He found a house he likes on Beacon Hill that was only $135,000 over his budget… and he is signing papers at 3pm. Guess I know where my noon hour is being spent. Below is the house.
You can find the rest of the shots at http://www.twango.com/channel/markso.newhousethough should keep in mind that Jeff is in the middle of his busy work season, so the inside of the house is not it’s usual pristine self. The house is 780sqft, and the two car garage/workshop is 500sqft. which is long enough for the yet unpurchased Sprinter, but the garage door at 8 feet tall is about 6 inches too short.
Guess I’d better make some calls about financing!
Next up are the errands to get Latke fixings for the Annual Latke and Tequila Chanukah Party, and to the bank, and the liquor store, and most importantly to the car wash to get the van washed. All on the eastside — and what a mess of pre-holiday traffic.
Ran into Antje in the Trader Joe’s parking lot — it’s been a long time, she was shocked that I was on the eastside and not on the island. Not enough time to really catch up, but good, none the less.
Five kinds of latkes tonight. Traditional with green onion, sweet potato latkes (needs more binder), Asian latkes (with a gingered sour cream top), Korean latkes (with a soy, sesame green onion dipping sauce), and finally Apple NoFry Latkes which are really more like muffins, but they made a great dessert. Hour and a half of prep time (thanks to Jill’s Cuisinart), half an hour to clean up the kitchen, and another couple of hours of frying time. Hint. Do them ahead of time and finish them in the oven. This is not what I did, so do as I say, not as I do.
Much tequila and happiness.
