Check out time was 10am — seemed a little early, but it did put us on the road at about the right time to make the resort by 4pm. A gas and lunch stop along the way with Marty having a “cheese sandwich” that looked like what you mother would have packed for your lunch in the 50′s. Eric had a small meat pie (how British), and I had the salad bowl, which was more like a salad box… shredded lettuce, boiled egg, slice or two of beet, sprouts, cucumber — basically everything that they would put on a burger. And speaking of burgers, it seems that it is traditional in Australia to put a slice of beet on burgers. Odd, but tasty.
Arrived at the Boambee Bay Resort around 3:30pm and settled in with a sigh of relief that the place was lovely — grounds well kept, unit clean and large (2 bedroom), kitchen stocked with enough cooking pots to be able to actually cook our meals. Having driven all day, I begged off grocery shopping.
The evening meal was both a roasted chicken and a pan of lasagna. Add a salad and wine, and you have a complete meal. Quick and easy when everyone pitches in to help.
Another early evening for Marty and Eric, I stayed up reading a bit more of Tarek’s unpublished work.
