Ah, the joys of Nescafe — seems that’s what coffee is for a lot of the world. No different here. Parrots and cockatoos screech outside our screened in deck. A great place to just watch the birds, drink your coffee, and read the morning paper.
Breakfast was bacon, eggs, and toast — very American, though the ham was more Canadian. Nice that the unit has a washer/dryer and dishwasher. Makes clean-up so much easier.
Went out exploring the resort this morning — found the pool (huge and intricate), the Internet terminal (expensive and no way to plug a USB drive into), the barbecues (odd electric griddles with a grease drain in the middle).
Marty and I ran to the grocery store to get a few more provisions — like dinner for tonight and tomorrow night. I found the discount variety store and got a sun hat and a bungee cord to use as a belt — oh, and a compass for the car.
Lots of lazing around today — no one really had the energy to go do the steam train ride up some valley near here — would have been fun, say Wednesday, but our first day here. Not. The resort is actually on a river that dumps into the sea, so in the morning, all you see is water, but by the afternoon, it’s all sand bars and really shallow water. Wondered towards the ocean, but never found it. Found the train tracks for the train to Sydney, though.
Dinner tonight is salad, pork roast, roasted yams, and, of course, our friend, wine. Time to say goodbye to Mr. Scotch, as he died before dinner. Guess I’ll be switching to Eric’s Jack Daniels after dinner.
A little TV and conversation after dinner. It’s so fun that when Marty gets a couple of glasses of wine in her she starts asking all these question about when did I come out as a gay man, how much before that was I having sex with men, etc.
Finally got ahold of Joyce, she is coming on Tuesday via bus. She was a little disappointed when I mentioned that there was rail service. Hopefully we can find where the bus lets her off — assuming Coss Harbour Center someplace. Will need to find an info booth — just know it’s the 4:45 from Sydney.
