Boy do I hate early morning where I’m actually required to be some where. The Victoria Clipper departure is 8am, which means checking in around 7am. Ick.
Really bad breakfast choices, all carbs, but they did have some Caesar salads from last nights run at half off, alittle champagne and orange juice and a bottle o comes of Glenfiddich rounded out my purchases.
Three hours later and Victoria Harbor into view. Then customs, then the combination city tour and Butchart Gardens tour. Next time I’ll take the city bus. Stunning weather to see the gardens. Unfortunately now pictures because I didn’t bring my card reader for the camera (or the chip for the phone). Guess I could buy (yet) another one of each, but I could just wait. Lots of pretty pictures of flowers, none of me.
Time at the gardens was two hours, I spent the first half an hour eating fish and chips as it was noon and I was starving. And then I walked around the garden for an hour and a half.
And when we got back to the Empress, I even turned down a ride back to the WorldMark and did the 15-20 minute walk. Thank god my room was really even though it was an hour before check in.
A glass of scotch, making an electronic signature for the latest offer on the church which basically said — you want it at that price, no contingencies and if it falls through I keep the $5,000 escrow.
And then a hot tubto massage the tired dogs. That’s why I love this place — the two bedroom penthouse has it’s own private deck with a hot tub at one end and a BBQ at the other end.
Then off to the store — basically about six blocks away, next to the liquor store. Handy. Red wine from Jackson-Triggs, tonight is a lovely veal chop, tomorrow will be lamb, then Wednesday will be a lemon herbed chicken — oh — maybe I’ll do that on the grill too! That would add to the taste. Still need the lemon, though.
Rest of the night is TV and catching up on reading — I discovered another stack of reading material in a box I unpacked.
Oh — and BONUS — a weak, but usable wifi connection from the houseboats next door. And FREE. Means I don’t have to use either my T-Mobile or Sprint connections.
