Yet Another Early Morning.

Last year I was here with Wonderful — who definately ISN’T a morning person. I’m not either, but at least I can do it when needed. Today, it is needed.

The earlier I get out of here, the earlier I get to prison, and the earlier I get to the Many Glacier Lodge. It’s 3 hours to prison, 3-4 hours visiting Steve, then 2.5 hours to Many Glacier (to spend the night and do the 2.5 hours back to prison on Sunday).

At least it looks like a nice place to stay….

Booked a couple of nights in Banff (Cranmore) on the way back home — yes, I know — it’s not even close to on the way home.

Well, the morning drive was much quicker than I thought. 2.5 hours rather than 3. Left a little before 8 (skipped breakfast) and hit Shelby at 10:30 accounting for brief stops.

In case you are wondering here is what the prison in Shelby, Montana looks like its a CCA (Corrections Corporation of America) facility.

Had a nice three hour visit with Steve decided we could play a game from the closet to pass the time. The only thing (other than Monopoly) that I knew was Life when Steve picked the Career Card he got cop. Way too ironic. He landed on a choose a new career space and went for more money. I ended up as Artist, with a second career as teacher. Too odd. I won with close to a million. Of course afterwards we figured out more of the rules though it wouldnt have changed the outcome. Maybe well play tomorrow.

Left after 2 for Many Glacier Hotel on the East Side of Glacier. Got there around 4pm but didnt use the mapping software which meant I took the smaller, but much straighter road. Well see what taking the mapped road does to my time tomorrow.

After I got in the entrance to the park, there were all these cars pulled over a grizzly bear sighting. Thats him (or her) below.

Got checked in again on the third floor, but in a value room which is mountain view, rather than lake and mountain view you are in a bowl its all mountains.

Not as impressed with this place as I was the McDonald Lodge maybe its too Swiss for me (this being the Alps of America). Guess it feels just a little bit more dumpy. Maybe if I was in the main section though I am close to the elevator. Actually had the cute bellboy bring up the bags — there goes $3 for grunting the bags up the stairs they dont use the elevator I followed.

Scotch and postcard writing before dinner, then off to dinner in the Ptarmigan Dining Room where the pork wrapped in bacon is looking good.

Dinner also featured a lovely fresh faced waiter from outside Atlanta, and a violinist I like the waiter better, would prefer the waiter with butter.

FYI huge swarms of mosquitoes no leaving the windows open tonight! Hopefully the rain that is coming in will drown them.
