John and Joan came for a visit at 10 — that gave me time to get ready for the big Roving Faerie BBQ. I’m thinking a dozen or so people will show up — but something in my gut says it may be more since Roushdi is driving up from Vancouver, AC (that would be Washington) for the event. Guess I’d better whip up as much food as possible!
It was good to see John and Joan again — sort of odd to see them together since they have split (but must still be on good terms since John crashes there when he’s in town). Think one of the reasons they didn’t come over last night was Joan is back on the wagon (17 days), and this place is like temptation central.
Spent time after they left straightening the house — arranging piles. No time to get the hallway table built, so stacks of DVDs and books under the table — and my desk still a mess piled with papers. At least I got my bedroom a little more presentable, but still no curtains or side table. Just the material draped over the rod and covering up two stacked totes which serve as my temporary night stand. Maybe next week after I get back from pimping out the bus.
More later, with a review of the BBQ.
And the review — my rye bread didn’t rise as I’d like — but still edible. People total — about a dozen. More than enough food to go around. Blair braved the bus to come down from the hill, Kevin borrowed a car (and got lost), other’s carpooled. Guest honors go to Roushdi, who drove up from Vancouver, Washington and stayed late to chat, bowl, help clean (not in that order). We even had enough plates and silver so that we didn’t resort to the environmental disaster of disposables. Forgot to take pictures (as usual), so there’s no evidence of what fun was had. And I’d like to thank all those that let me watch the roll out of the 787 while hosting, especially David Kerlick (former Boeing math guru) for the color commentary.
And here is Swanda’s edited review:
Markie spent the day making salads, breads, deviled eggs, etc and getting ready. Mind you, I almost did not go as I was tired from entertaining all weekend between the faerie coffee and having a friend in town for her birthday. But boy was I glad I went once I got there. It was great connecting with other faeries (some I had not seen since gathering).
