Check out is a 11am — and that’s when I’ll be at the desk… every last minute used. Woke up briefly at 5am to see a stunning sunrise…. not stunning enough to get me out of bed and grab the camera, but truly stunning.
Dinner last night was the venison and artichoke chicken sampler platter after a starter ofodd, but interesting crab puffs. I should have stopped there, but the peach cobbler from the table next door smelled divine (and was almost divine in taste). Took halfof theentree home for a mid-day snack today.
The plan for today is to wonder around the park for a bit — I did the postcard thing yesterday, I am planning on writing Steve a letter this morning as well. Need to go to the store down the road a bit and pick up a hat pin for the collection — then slowly make my way to the south entrance with a stop at Manzana to see what the cabins look like there. Probably not much to see since they were built for when the lodge was shuttered for renovation for five years.
Lovely place, Crater Lake Lodge, almost worth the money.
More when I get to the WorldMark Running Y Ranch — that will be a change of scenery!
And that it is…. damn. My sis-in-law Jen would love this place — horses, ranch land, shrubbery.
Found a spotty wifi connection at the Running Y Ranch — which looks a lot like another Jeld-Wen property in Bend called Eagle Creek…. right down to the lodge where you check in and the winding roads to find your unit…. and the golf course.
Thinking of Lava Tubes National Monument tomorrow after the owner re-education (early bird special for $75) session. At least I’ll be up and on the road. I’ve almost used the $75 from the Leavenworth session (and I got a book there too!).
Dinner was steak, salad, and caramelized onions as I watched CNN repeat the same things time and time again over the 35W Bridge failure in Minneapolis. Guess I should email the boys and see if they are OK — not the time to use the phone.
Still need to work on that ad for SOB that is due Friday!
