Slept in to 8:30 this morning, then lolled around until the breakfast scramble of pork, cheese, and eggs. Basically just puttering around — check-out is at noon. Want to finish a chapter in the book I’m working on (The United States of Europe) before heading out.
Today’s route: 140 west to Medford, I-5 north to 42, west to 101 just below Coos Bay — which is exactly where bro and sis-in-law’s place is. Travel time is +/- five hours.
Guess I’d better get packing!
Left at 11am — called the clubhouse am said I’m good to go, gone — wandered around southern Oregon for a couple of hours — had a JackAttack lunch in Grants Pass — and stopped for gas and to get trapped in a car wash — in Grant’s Pass I’m not sure they are used to cars my size — it kept setting off the alarms — Pull Forward — Stop — Drive Back — all the time the sirens going. Finally a guy came (with my car covered in soap for 15 minutes) and had me back out — which meant everyone in line had to reverse — so he could reset the cycle and start over — should have asked for the deluxe wash!
Arrived at 4pm — back door (the one I usually come in) locked — but the front door open. Time to set up equipment.
No Sprint service — damn. Dial-up at the house. Time for the T-Mobile card (once again). That $20 a month is starting to pay for itself on this trip.
Dinner was roasted vegetables and ahi tuna from the grill. Killed the scotch — and now we are working our way through a half gallon of Tanqueray. Life is hard. And it’s time for bed. I sense an early morning coming on.
