Factory Tour Day.

I’m on the road most of today — going on a couple of factory tours on the way back north. First stop is the Marathon coach factory http://www.marathoncoach.com/— they start at $750,000 — and no, I’m not thinking of buying one — even the 1990′s are still almost 200K. The start with a Prevost Commercial bus body and go from there to opulence.

Next stop is Palm Harbor http://www.palmharbor.com — a manufactured home factory — that should be a hoot to see. That would be at the other end of the cost spectrum. Maybe they even have a factory seconds area!

I’ve passed both these places on the way to/from Eugene for years and never had a chance to check them out.

Still haven’t decided if I’m going back to Seattle via Rainier National Park or not…. it would add several hours to the trip — and I’m starting to miss home. The trip has been wonderful — I tend to forget exactly how much I enjoy travelling solo.

OK — here is the PM revision to the day….

Soooooooo — those Marathon coaches are 45-feet long….. and START at $1.6 million (and run to around $2 million). I was stunned. No only by the opulence of these coaches, but the price tag. Favorite features? the pocket doors on a air slide controlled by a switch…..

And missed the Palm Harbor tour at 1 because they only have 10 and 2 now — bad people, web site out of date! Guess I’ll hit them on the trip to Breitenbush later this month…. and found out that Country Coach and Monaco (both around the same area) have tours as well. At this rate I’ll have to go to Austin and check out Sportsmobile where I plan to get my next rig.

Dinner is a quiet affair of microwaved ham steak chopped up with some cheese and lettuce for a chef’s salad.

Rest of the evening catching up on stuff.

The link below has the latest photos (including some great shots of grazing Elk between Coos Bay and Eugene).
