On the river at 9:45am this morning with me out of bed at 6am (to bed before 10pm last night). A record — but not much good for making up lost time so we can have layovers.
Today was easy. Was on MarkMark’s boat and he was doing all the rowing except for the “power assist” through rapids. I was partnered with Leslie today — who enticed me to break the law on flat spots by stripping off my life vest ($100 fine) — don’t know what the fine for going topless is!
Light rapids — explored a test tunnel for a dam project from the fifties, worked on my tan. What a change from yesterday’s death, destruction, and massive headwinds.
Boat captain Jamie’s finger better, but there was still lots of blood on the redressing and they’ve added a splint.
Paula’s birthday dinner was tonight with a fried chicken salad that was stunning. Worried that we will run out of wine — guess I should do an inventory and some calculations.
Tomorrow is a layover day. Most will hike. I will hang with Chris and Uli and who knows else.
