Much big water today. And another big water day tomorrow. Then maybe some easy days until the end with Lava Falls.
Today’s thing to remember. Let it go. Hard for me to do because I will remember even if I let it go today, which by default means not letting go.
Today was Phantom Ranch. It’s another Xanterra managed place — but this one you have to take an ass to get too — or float by. Mailed postcards, had and iced tea, and wondered if I can check this one off my list having just stopped by (the Great Lodges list).
This evenings excitement was at Granite Falls Rapids — in scouting the rapids we realized that with the 30mph headwinds that hitting these class 9 rapids at the end of the day was a bad idea.
The up side was Mike (surf instructor) and Nathan (son of a hiker) were part of the campers we crashed on the beach. Invited them for cheese and crackers and wine — plus the other group of four that showed up. Lots of hottie hikers for these crazed homo rafters.
No fun, so far, to report, but a nice diversion from tomorrows hellish first thing in the morning rapid.
