What A View To Wake Up To.

What a view to wake up to…

p1010010.JPG p1010011.JPG

The second shot is of the kitchen/living room/dining room. The bedroom (the master, not the one with two twin beds at the back) is to the left of these shots, but has the same, if not better, view of the ocean.

I must have done something right in a previous life!

Got here at 5:45pm last night. That would be 45 minutes AFTER the office closed — guess I should read the resort descriptions more closely. Called the 800# posted for late check-ins and emergencies to find my unit number, and that the door was unlocked and the keys inside (Room 603 – right across from the elevator).

What delayed me getting here was the stop at the Hawaiian Liquor Warehouse and at Safeway — probably would have been on time if I’d done all my booze shopping at Safeway, but had forgotten whether this was a state you could do that in. And the Warehouse did have a HUGE selection of Ridge Vineyards, even including the 2003 Montebello (which I wasn’t about to spent $115 on).

Shopping yield eggs (3 each for 4 morning = a dozen), Octopus Poke, Ahi Poke (spicy marinated raw [in the case of the Ahi] seafood for pre-dinner snacks), a tri-tip 2.3 pound roast for dinner (and breakfast meat), a steak for later, and salad for the first couple of days. From the Alaska Board Room I have packets of butter to fry my eggs in (with a little olive oil that I always carry with me on my WorldMark runs). The roast last night was covered in McCormick’s Steak Seasoning (also in the travel spice kit, though I’ve learned to make another rub from the WorldMark spices).

Condo features:

  • 2-bedrooms
  • 2-baths (one with a shower)
  • Murphy Bed in the Living Room
  • Ocean View from Living Room and Master Bedroom
  • Cable TV
  • Internet (though id doesn’t work for outgoing mail on my Outlook account so I’m using my EVDO router unless I need to upload a lot of pictures)
  • Washer/Dryer (though I think I’ll wait until Kihei to do laundry)

Thoughts so far on the trip.

  • Should have brought the Hibiscus flowered back — easier to fit on top of rolling briefcase
  • Should have brought half the clothes for this trip (and the next) and done laundry since there are machines on the first two trips
  • Need to see if the WorldMark Kihei will store a bag for next weeks trip with extra booze and pop in it

Now to make breakfast, take a shower, and go downstairs and formally check in. Rest of the day will be spent on my goals for these trips — to catch up on my reading. The magazine stack is at four inches (including New Yorkers and Popular Mechanics which take a while to get through) and the two books I brought along, including The Sushi Economy from the canyon trip.

More later.
