Sunday morning — grab coffee, muffins, and the big paper in the lobby at 8am — good thing — there was a crowd. Grabbed a banana for tomorrow now that they’ve put coffee back in my unit.
Once again I’m on the 10am Hilo Hattie shuttle — did round one of shopping and then walked down the street to check out the KMart for cameras or laptops — nothing. Stopped at Sam Choy’s on the way back — and I should add that I did Singha Thai last night for dinner. Lunch was the crab nachos and a couple wonderfully cheap mimosas — $3.00 with fresh OJ— dinner was a summer roll — OK, sauce could have been more peanuty, but a stunning ahi, wrapped in nori, and slightly breaded and flash fried and sliced — amazing…. mixed lunch and dinner (from last night) together — oh well — it’s all food.
Soooooo ….. after the Sam Choy lunch, back to HH for another mug and calendar run, then the shuttle back to “the mall” where I spent MUCH time looking for computers and cameras and cups and calendars.
Yes, another two calendars at HH — but then if was off to Sears to check for electronics… and they had cameras on close-out. Object of affection? Panasonic Lumix FZ7. 12x optical zoom, SD card — unfortunately not battery compatible. Was $219.00 on closeout (down from $349), but got them down to $132 when they couldn’t find the charger for it ($18 on the web). I’d heard about this series — full Leica lens on it (with fittings for adapters). Wish me luck.
Lots of walking in the sun today, and tomorrow more since I need to go past Ala Monana, past Ward Center, to see what CompUSA has for laptops. Assuming I can resurrect the HP — warranty service will still be weeks, and I have three trips coming up and I’m tired of Curtis’ old crappy laptop where I have to remember to bang the “c”, “g”, and “h” — oh, and there is that other key that I can’t even identify.
Dinner tonight at Outback — and I got Stephanie again — too cheery, but really honest about all the dishes — “I’ll get your dressing on the side because I think they overdress them” — which is good — and she got extra blue cheese crumbles on the side of my steak salad without asking — and remembered me. Guess that means I tip well. Or that I buy a bottle of wine and cork it half way through and take it with me.
Done with Hilo Hattie, done with Hawaii, need to get back to the ranch.
