Well — after a breakfast of coffee and banana in the room and a couple of ham and cheese crescents in the lobby (and it was 9:45!), it was off on a walking tour of Honolulu. I’m not quite sure I realized how far it was to CompuUSA. According to Microsoft Streets and Trips 2006, the answer is 1.9 miles each ways — that damn near 4 miles. WHAT WAS I THINKING — or is is WHAT WILL I DO WHEN MY TECHNOLOGY BREAKS.
Stopped at OfficeMax as well…. no luck in either place, but closer at CompUSA — they were having an open box sale, but still the cheapest was $629 plus tax. Decided to go back to the hotel and suffer with my slow machine and order something to be delivered later this week.
Ended up getting a Tablet PC from Tiger Direct even though it only has half the memory (512 rather that 1gig), wireless b (rather than g, or b, g, a), and only two usb ports rather than 3 or 4, and the hard disk is small (40GB rather than 120GB) — but it’s touchscreen, and XP rather than Vista, and now I won’t need to get the monitor back that I sold Dan, or ship him a replacement, and it was $422 plus $35 for 2-day shipping, minus a $20 coupon I got in yesterdays email.
Now all I need it a new phone with a keyboard. I did see the HTC tablet phone — damn it’s tiny and odd. Not worth $899 to me.
No beach time today, but a lovely tan from walking for hours in the blazing sun.
Dinner tonight is the remaining wine from last night, and take out sushi from Aloha Sushi down the street.
