Today was errand day — I did the trifecta of IKEA, Boeing Surplus, and Harbor Freight — and all I came home with is a catalog from IKEA. The “As-Is” section had nothing. In my dreams there would have been an ottoman in black leather to go with the reading chair (and as a spare seat) and maybe a matching love seat. No such luck.
As for Boeing Surplus — truly a bust (unless I wanted cartridges for my old 4550′s) and a zoo to boot with 30% off for everyone, lines with 30 people in it and a warehouse stripped bare in anticipation of them going private after December (large lot sales only).
More lines at Harbor Freight, and nothing I hadn’t seen already. Luckily Home Depot still had things on my list — more plumbing parts. Guess I’d better drop a line to MoonSong that there are MORE things to grab from my garage before he heads north next week.
Dinner tonight is with Helene. A last minute invitation accepted — she thought I was already on the East Coast. Fresh home baked Challah, pan-fried steaks (her’s microwaved to get the blood out of the center), asparagus with hollandaise (canned — had never seen it before, must try), and a big salad. Anything we don’t eat goes in the compost since I leave tomorrow afternoon.
Need to check in for tomorrow flight — and hopefully change to a bulkhead seat — for some reason USAir won’t let me pick a bulkhead first class seat no matter how far in advance I ticket.
Now all I need is a ride to the airport — Wonderful got his days confused, Councilman Curt has a date, and I haven’t asked Helene yet (but she is probably with Gabby and Peter).
More tales later, but here is your travel hint for today. Worried about airport delays? Check out this link. And it auto refreshes so you can just keep it in a window.
