Well — miracles happen. Spring Awakenings is on! The strike settled last night. Talk about a close call.
Of course I’d already booked the Circle Line Tour with the group — meaning I’ll be breaking my rule of not doing more than one “big thing” a day when I’m travelling. Hopefully we’ll find a liquor store today so at least I can have a nightcap to calm down. Tried to find one last night so Swanda would have something to unwind with, and all I could find is wine. Not particularly bad wine — but he/we needed something a little stiffer (like Steven).
Off to the showers, then cabbing to the pier with Swanda — should have time to come home (hotel) and change before the show. Might even have time to have a little of my left over BBQ’d chicken from last night’s dinner.
Lars and Anita show up an hour early — which is fine since we (I) have a bottle of Gruett Sparkling Wine to share before we go to the theatre. It’s nice to just sit and decompress and chat rather than go, go, go.
The show is great — yet more cocktails at the theatre. Aurora (another faerie) meets us there. Once again Chris is tryaing to hock the last couple of tickets — not as good a luck tonight as last night — he finally turns them into the box office for a future shows tickets.
The show is edgy — which sends one of the Texans (Swanda’s group that he’s showing NYC) out during the intermission because of the almost nude heterosexual love scene — and during Act II another one of the Texan’s claws his way across half a dozen people when two men start kissing on stage. I liked it — not enough to see it again this weekend, but good.
After dinner we were off for another “legendary” New York City experience — Sardy’s. Six of us for an after theatre dinner — starting with oysters and vodka — what an evening. We shut the place down!
