Oh my head. Oh my stomach. Oh my god, the time.
Since I’m catching the shuttle with everyone else to the Newark Airport (EWR) — I need to be in the lobby with everyone else at 4am. I didn’t get to bed until 1am. Ick.
And did I mention it was starting to snow? We all pile in — and head for the Holland Tunnel — and it’s closed until 6am. OK — back north to the Lincoln Tunnel. Traffic not moving because of an accident in the tunnel. OK — further north to the George Washington Bridge. Good thing that my flight isn’t until 9:45 — I sleep in the van as best I can.
Flight to Phoenix boarded on time — only to sit at the gate and on the tarmac waiting for deicing. I awoke at 10:45 and we were finally taking off. That makes for a TIGHT connection in Phoenix for my Seattle flight.
I lucked out on gates — came in at A21 and out at A24 — or so I thought. After an hour on the ground (drinking scotch in First Class), they have not been able to resolve an errant reading on one of their gauges. Back to the loading area. Latest news is that we MIGHT leave at 6:45pm. Hell, I might be able to get a ride home from Jill at this point! She comes in from Boston tonight (or is it Tucson, or Orlando).
Time will tell. Sounds like an ugly flight day with all the bad weather back east — which screws up the rest of the system as well.
