Lopez For Dinner.

What was supposed to be a muti-day trip to the island for construction, jury duty, and dinner with Lynne, Susan, and Don has turned into an overnight of taking the couch up, having dinner, and returning to the mainland on Saturday. The couch BARELY fit into the van — and took every seating space other than the driver — no hitchhikers today!

I was originally thinking about the 12:35pm ferry… but in the morning I couldn’t bring myself to rush around the house and get out the door by 10:30am — made more sense to get the 3:35pm ferry and be calm. That also meant I could have a relaxing breakfast and get a little more work done around the house. Finally got both of the shoe racks mounted in the bedroom closets. How did I end of with so many pairs of shoes when I tend to wear the same ones for weeks?

Got to the island at 4:15pm — and went straight to see Ron the barber – I’ve been trying to get my hair cut since mid-September and I always end up out here on Sundays and Mondays when he isn’t open. After Ron was the other Ron (Paper, Scissors, on the Rock) to deliver a gift basket and generally hang out as he closed up.

Next stop was dinner at Don and Susan’s place. Susan bought a bunch of equipment from me months ago, and now I am having her transfer films, and other stuff — and still trying to sell her MORE of my old printing equipment.

Dinner was Mexican Lasagne — or what happens when you don’t roll up the enchiladas which never come out of the pan in nice rolls anyway. Good scotch before dinner, good wine with a good dinner, and shortbread cookies from Lynne and home-made blackberry pie (stunning, and I’m not even a desert guy).

Wonderful evening — and was to the church by 10pm — and damn was it cold. I guess I should have swung by the place and turned on the heat on the way into town. Nothing to do but hunker down under the covers and go to bed early.
