Lots of stress around the office this morning. Changes in the wind. I’m confident that it will all work out once the storm clouds clear….. and speaking of storms, apparently there are storm clouds brewing over the east coast….. where I happen to be flying this afternoon.
Out of Tampa on time, into Dulles a couple of minutes early — but there is lots of snow on the ground and tons of people waiting in the customer service lines. Apparently the weather was MUCH worse earlier in the day.
My flight at least leaves on time and at the last minute I get an upgrade to first class —now if that idiot who checked me in at the beginning of this trip hadn’t double billed my electronic upgrade account I wouldn’t have had to plunk down $200 for 4 more 500-mile upgrades. It’s easier to not be as mad about this after you have sucked an entire 757 out of not only all the Chivas Regal, but all the Dewar’s as well — and was working on the Canadian Club by the time we landed. Must have been a bad day for lots of people in first class (or that it was a dinner flight) since they also drank them completely out of red wine. They opened seven bottles of red wine and finished them all — the guy sitting next to me was forced to drink the Gallo mini-bottles from coach for his last glass.
And when I say the flight leaves on time, well, sort of. We left the gate a little late because of deicing…. and then spent another hour at the end of the runway while planes backed up while they scraped snow off the runway. Nothing like having three scotches before even getting in the air!
Into Sea-Tac an hour late, but bag came off smoothly. Came home, too tired to even drink. Fell asleep half way through the news.
