What a flight day! They (the powers that be) let me into the Crown Room before my red-eye flight to Atlanta, so I was nicely lubricated (from dinner, and then drinks in said Crown Room) before my flight.
Here is the review of the Delta First Class service to Atlanta (then Tampa). When I saw the flight listing for 767 I was expecting old and tired aircraft. No so with both flights for the day. Yes, 767, but either new or seriously refurbished — you had to use the touch screen to turn the damn reading light on (annoying). But the carpets weren’t dirty and tattered, and the seat standard US First Class seats — no footrest, no 180 degree recline, but wide, leather and comfy.
Food service on-board was listed as “snack” which turned out to be this hoogie thing which was nice after the meat-free dinner with Mr. Randy. Think lots of scotch to was it down. Didn’t get much sleep and arrived in Atlanta ready for a couple of Cape Codders (vodka, cranberry, twist of lime). Read the paper, didn’t deal with email, just relaxed in the Crown Room.
Flight to Tampa running late due to weather — and it was a bumpy “ye-haw” ride in that 767. Makes it tough to sleep through.
Salmon salad sandwiches on rye at Dan and Lisa’s and then a four hour nap for me.
Dinner of steaks (organic — packed them with me, and they were still partially frozen), salad, corn on the cob, sweet potatoes. A little on the grill (corn, steaks) and a little in the oven (sweet potatoes). Damn Fine. Washed it down with a 1998 Amarone which was at it’s peak.
Hot tub after dinner and off to bed for me.
[clueless]
