Car in the shop today — 8:30 at the dealership, shuttle ride home and back to bed. Done at 3 — a hundred bucks cheaper than expected, but those damn foglight lenses are damned expensive at $192 installed. Errands and then home to fix the TV antenna issues.
Jeff (running late, but with plenty of time, just no cocktail) picked up Blair and I. Dinner at Racha Noodle House on Queen Anne, walking distance to the opera house. Blair, garlic chicken; Jeff, some stuffed dumpling thing; me, the shrimp wrap summer roll thing and the spicy yellow tail sashimi. Consistant as usual.
Racha is a block away from where we are seeing The Italian Girl in Algiers. Seariously “light” opera — more like Gilbert and Sullivan (Blair’s phrase not mine). This might be the last season with the opera for me. LOTS of empty seats in the house tonight — not good for a Saturday night, and I don’t think it was the competition from Halloween saturday.
(L’italiana in Algeri)
Seattle Opera Premiere
Music by Gioachino Rossini
Libretto by Angelo Anelli
In Italian with English captionsA madcap comedy staged by the inspired director Chris Alexander who directed the Seattle Opera recent hits The Tales of Hoffmann and Die Fledermaus. Come revel in the bravura singing, fast-paced arias and ensembles, and the picturesque, story-book setting of Rossini’s desert adventure.
Jeff dropped Blair and I at the apartment — he was off to a party an hour north in Arlington (and ick of a drive), I ran Blair up the hill to his place. He was contemplating going to a party. Me, I was headed for Dicks to do a diet breaking two deluxes and watch the Broadway halloween crowd on parade. Amusing, though I notice their are now cops in front of both Dicks and Jack in the Box.
Home at midnight, and to bed after the tail end of Saturday Night Live.
