Got my absentee ballot today in the mail. Like a good boy, I sat down with the voter’s guide and made my choices. Interestingly enough, earlier today I was having a converstation with one of my travel buddies (Eric, of Eric and Marty) who is a self described Christian conservative, both ex-Air Force Colonels, and I asked him about Barack Obama’s “thinking about thinking about running”, and I love his response:
Interestingly enough, Marty and I were watching him on Tim Russet’s show. I was disappointed, but not surprised, that he coolly declared that his earlier unqualified commitment to stick with the Senate until the end of his term in 2011 was “non-operative.” Just once, I’d like to have a politician make a commitment and then keep it. But then, I’ve always been a dreamer.
Could I vote for Hillary and Barack in ’08? You bet: I’ll vote for Hillary and a pig, or a pig and Hillary, or Barack and a pig, or a pig and a turkey, as long as they are not Republicans. And I would point out here that I’m a Conservative, like 98% of all military officers are. George has led the Republican party down some sort of insane path………..his constituents are religious nuts who think God wants us to burn witches and drive SUVs. They’re all NUTS.
Wow — now that’s a pissed off Republican base. And to paraphrase my department emails from my Microsoft days — sent out on election day (this year November 7), “I don’t care who you vote for, just vote, or quit your bitching.”
Who knows…maybe I should have an election night party. Now which city? At the moment I get back into Seattle the night before, so, maybe there.
