At the house at 11:30 — Josh shows up at noon. It’s like I never was away. Except for the slight suntan. Josh has made great progress on the house — all the new widened doorways are done. Just working on the last little bits of drywall.
Today’s chore is getting the garage door installed. I think I should have paid Home Depot the $189.00 installation fee (or whatever is was). Might have been less grief. Actually it was about the same amount of money and I’d rather give it to Josh than some random contractor who would undoubtedly hit me with “up charges” for this, that, and the other thing.
While Josh was doing that, I was disassembling the room addition in the garage, back to what was probably a “grow” closet years ago. Once the walls are back in (to the original size), it will probably be the wine cellar. We will see how the temperature holds in the summer, and I’ll go ahead and brace for an air conditioner since there is power in there already. Will probably swap out the light fixture, or not. Time will tell.
With the garage door in I can start making plans for how the rest of the garage will be laid out — the shop area. I have enough lumber left over from taking down (and putting up!) walls that I can make all the workbenches I need. And then there will be the racks for storage, etc. Will be nice to have a two car garage again — and get the Bimmer off the island and out of the tree sap.
I love working with Josh. Wine with lunch, and at the end of the day, a little duty-free Wild Turkey while shooting the shit.
I return to the city apartment tired and hungry — good thing I live above a grocery store. Chicken fried rice and a Seattle Roll was dinner. Crashed hard — didn’t even have another drink before bed (two nights in a row!) Was so out of it I didn’t hear the phone ring at 10 and 10:30.
