A leisurely day of eggs in the a.m. and then heading off to the airport with yet another stop at Hilo Hatties for coffee mugs — and two makes six.
Jill is on Hawaiian, I’m on Aloha (for the United miles). I leave first, and get in first, Jill is a half an hour later which means I go off and get the rental car — upgraded to a Sebring convertible for another $5 a day — $23 a day total — half what the rental was on the Big Island. Nice day for a convertible.
Headed to Safeway for more meal stuff — have enough food for tonight, but no hard liquor — and we have three nights total here. And what is next to the Safeway? That would be Hilo Hatties! And two makes eight. Might have to buy a new bag for all these damn mugs. But free is too good to pass up, even if I buy a little something while I’m there — a $5 purchase which includes a mug still isn’t too bad.
Shopping brings us up to 3:30 and we check-in early to a 2-bedroom on the back side of the complex — a “non-view” unit — overlooks the parking lot through a bunch of greenery.
Here is Jill assuming the position:
Dinner was marinated heirloom tomatoes from Dave’s garden, a Caesar salad with chicken breasts poached in ginger and curry. Wine was a Steele Pinot Noir — damn fine all around.
