Well, it’s the New Year, and time for a new adventure.
Tonight I’m headed for Yakima for dinner and a tryst. Well, that’s what I’m hoping for. If it doesn’t work out I’ll at least have a nice dinner at Gasperetti’s. If the date works out, it will be take out since he’s in the closet and doesn’t want to run into anyone he knows. Silly man.
Staying a block away at the Ramada — we’ll see how that is. At least it’s cheap with the 15% off discount because it’s part of the Wyndham family which also owns WorldMark.
Maybe I should have stayed down the block — cool sign but is there wireless?
But, speaking of WorldMark, tomorrow I’m off to Lake Chelan Shores for an overnight. Once I’ve completed that stay, I’ll only have Deer Harbor on Orcas Island and I’ll have stayed at ALL the resorts in Washington (as well as Canada, Hawaii, and Fiji). I’m thinking about staying at Deer Harbor a day before this couple comes to look at Bob (the Bluebird Wanderlodge I have for sale).
Wish me luck getting over the pass today.
EVENING UPDATE:
Pass = slow, but not impassable.
Motel = not the cheapest (or most expensive), but nicely remodeled two story Holiday Inn style Auto Motel doing business as a Ramada Limited. Wireless worked great — which is important since I forgot my Sprint EVDO card.
As for the evening… well, the tryst worked out as well as any date can when you are some one’s third experience in their life. Dinner, however, was stunning. I couldn’t get him to join me since, god forbid, he might run into somebody he knew.
What I’ve discovered is that I’m no cheap date. $90 including tip for dinner for just me. The up side is that I have half a bottle of really nice wine for tomorrow nights steak dinner on Lake Chelan.
The wine was a 2003 Whitman Cellars Narcissa. Dinner was a broiled stuffed pear over a bed of frizee followed by the clams linguine. I was stuffed for my walk back to the motel — but at least it was only a block.
