Random TSA (Transportation Security Administration) thought. Why don’t they allow you to bring soda pop CANS that have been unopened on board. I can see why not bottles, since they can be resealed tightly and you couldn’t really notice — but a can — pretty obvious if it’s been tampered with. Answer is probably that it’s just easier to ban everything.
Actually got the packing done yesterday (to the surprise of last night’s dinner guests Jimmy and Greg) and today pulled the weather along the route and have decided to forgo the Antarctica Parka in favor of my maroon and black leopard print jacket — something subtle for travelling in the out back of Mexico for seven days.
Finally got around to organizing a proposed hierarchy for the Printed Tee section of the website — now Dan can chew on it and spit it out while I’m gone. Trip back to St. Pete still up in the air, but I hate letting a 15% off coupon from United go to waste.
My last supper before the flight to El Paso in the morning is with Helene, Swanda (who is also going on the trip, but a different routing to get there) and Michael who is up from the coast. Sounds like cocktails at six at Swandas and then off to Shanghai Garden (imagine!) for a huge Chinese meal. I always eat too much and come home feeling totally bloated. Maybe I can resist the temptation this time (unlikely).
Hopefully early to bed since I need to be out the door and into a cab at 8:30 tomorrow morning. Not taking the computer on this trip — just the camera and the cell phone, so updates to the blog will go back to what I call the “Grand Canyon” style — sent from the phone so probably no pictures until I’m back in the states on the 29th.
Happy travels. Oh — and an update on the United 500-Mile Segment Upgrades — they are back in my account. Let’s hope I get to use all of them getting to/from Denver up front.
