WOW — Fine Food On Orcas.

So — the recap of late yesterday, post post.

Ferry to Orcas to complete my full set of WorldMark Washington state resorts — the Resort at Deer Harbor, which isn’t yet a true WorldMark — except in attitude. Talk about friendly staff — that’s what I found (and fresh coffee and homemade chocolate chip cookies).

Deer Harbor is at the bottom left on the map.

I’m in the “Traditional Cottage” which in reality is a nice large motel room with a stunning view of the harbor and a personal hot tub on the deck. And there is EVDO Rev. A service — which is better than the connection on Lopez even with only two bars! Imagine what I could get with the booster.

So, dinner last night was just up the hill. My request from the staff for “nice sit down meal closest to here” was the restaurant at the Deer Harbor Inn, about a mile away. I ended up meeting the two owners — Ryan (also the waiter and bartender of mean Manhattans) and Matthew — celebrating 10 years as “chef”. Your can find the link HERE.

I was thinking of the Saffron Seafood and Shellfish Bowl or the Seafood Fettucine, but with the Split Pea (Soup of the Day), salad, and bread — both sounded like a ton of food (though there was a fridge in the room) — ended up doing the Seafood Salad that had sauteed scallops, shrimp and smoked salmon over greens in a light Louie dressing — and a fresh baked roll. Damn Fine.

Today’s adventure is back to the city, or to Lopez to see a play — depending on whether I’ve got a Saturday appointment to show the bus…. but no word on that yet — stay tuned for the afternoon update.
