Well — you’re right, I just can’t seem to sit still for too long.
Got back from dinner with Jameson around ten this morning. By the afternoon I’d stained the roof section of the “potting shed” (though still need to stain the shingles — that’s tomorrow) and booked a trip to Tampa for some SOB (Shirts of Bamboo) work in April before my trip with Swanda to Kentucky for Bourbon, Horses, and Toyotas. Bye-bye 45,000 Alaska frequent flyer miles for a first-class ticket on Delta — that’s a new feature of the Alaska site — it ability to book Delta flights as well as American using frequent flyer miles (and, of course, Alaska flights).
So — the new luggage part. Got this email from Geeks.com last week about a FlighTable — basically a 22″ roll aboard, but with a fold out table.
Interesting thing about pricing on this piece — $22.95 was what it was originally (and again is) listed on the site — but with $12.00 shipping. I just left it in my shopping cart without purchasing. Looked at it later (12-24 hours) and low-and-behold it’s now at $17.95. Suddenly I’m interested again. Spent part of this afternoon loading it up with the standard laptop case stuff from my old and tattered rolling briefcase:
- laptop
- power cables for laptop
- mouse
- GPS receiver for laptop
- cords and charger for camera and phone
- digital camera
- Ethernet cable
- toiletries (one bag wet for security check, one dry for packing)
- speedo
- noise cancelling headphones
- universal international power adapter
- cell phone/broadband card external antenna
Yikes — no wonder why I trashed my old briefcase!
Other interesting travel related news: I own 100 shares of Carnival Cruise Line which also owes Holland America, P&O, Princess, Cunard, and a handful of other lines. It turns out that because I’m a shareholder should I cruise on them, I get an on board credit of $250 for 14 day and over cruises, $100 for 7-13 days, and $50 for those really short cruises. My question now is… can a book that cruise through one of the discount, last-minute websites (www.vacationstogo.com which has a great low single supplement section), or do I have to go though Carnival directly.
