More loads (two) of stuff to the Rose Street House after a breakfast of leftover dinner. Chris arrives this afternoon with his UHaul full of stuff, the least I can do is get major chunks of my shit out so he has somewhere to put it. Luckily his place in Portland is even smaller than the place in the International District.
Met up with Josh to go over stuff that he could do while I’m away — which I wish he would. By the time I get home, the counters should be ready, but the kitchen won’t be. Still need to get all the ceiling cans and switches in before the final round of mud.
Got the stove out of the kitchen, and the fridge moved into the living room — god love that plastic floor covering — totally protects the place.
Had to break down and reassemble the corner desk from the UW surplus store to get it into the back bedroom (which is going to become the office). Got all the electronics moved in there from the city apartment so they are safe and sound.
By the time Chris gets here at 4:00 it will be time to go pick up Jill for the airport run. Flight is at five til ten tonight, which means leaving for the airport at 7:30pm — think that’s enough time to have a pupu platter after they unload.
So — off we (Jill and I) go to London tonight. I’m sitting in 15K, which is the last row of business (they call it Club Class) in a rear facing “pod”. The “pod” is a six foot lay flat bed with a personal flat panel entertainment system, and being the last row, lots of extra legroom — enough for a wall mounted bassinet should I find a child on the way to the airport. Jill is further back, also in a window seat, but in World Traveler (not World Traveller Plus, which is like United’s Economy Plus). Seat 27K. Luckily she’s short so the leg room isn’t an issue. See the seating chart below, courtesy of Seat Guru — the best source for most every seating layout for all the major airlines — complete with comments about each seat.
Here is the scoop on Club World.
A deeper sleep
The new Club World cabin boasts better bedding, adjustable seats and foot stools for optimum comfort in flat bed as well as a personal TV screen that adjusts to a comfortable viewing position.
In-flight catering
A pre take-off glass of champagne will set the tone of your journey in Club World, with personalised service from our Cabin Crew making it feel like a restaurant, rather than an aircraft.
Entertainment
Enjoy our extensive range of entertainment options including up to 18 channels of the latest films and TV programmes, 12 audio channels, and a selection of interactive games available on most aircraft.
Otherwise, you can catch up on work using our in seat laptop power.
And a lovely picture….
Can’t wait — and we get access to the lounge before the flight for a little wine and champagne and more nibbles.
But the moving van has arrived, and I finally get the meet the famous war veteran, a.k.a. Chris’ Mom.
