Just Plain Exhausted.

Unpack the van — find space in the garage. Move the BMW out so I can work on the stove. Walls to paint in the hallway. Josh to coordinate. a last cabinet to build and mount. Counter tops to buy, mount and finish. Ugh.

Now why am I doing this?

At least there is now a microwave and coffee maker at the house — a little food is always good.

More later.

Today’s progress report. Let’s just call it the thousand dollar day. $220 (+tax) a sheet for two sheets of 1″ bamboo plywood for counter tops — beautiful but not cheap, like some of my dates. Then throw in a $399 dishwasher from the scratch and dent Sears on 1st (cute sales guy — don’t think it was his regular job).

Counters are cut to the proper depth — no small feat since each of those sheets weighs 100 pounds each — thanks to Gnarlene for being the catcher to my pitcher at the table saw. Even got one of them cut to length. Even got a bunch of the cabinet doors on — it’s even starting to look like a kitchen!

And speaking of kitchens — every kitchen needs a stove — which got sanded down and painted with high-heat black today. It also got moved most of the way around the house (hopefully no rain tonight). Not bad for balancing a stove on a rolling cart that usually hold trays of glasses. Nothing like laying down strips of 2’x8′ soundproofing left over from Jeff to move a very heavy steel object across grass.

Hopefully tomorrow the stove will be in place — that’s going to take at least one more, if not three more people to get that bastard into the house — the front door is the only one that it will fit through – that’s why it’s spending the night on the side of the house.

Bummer for the day — but good for Anita — maybe. The warming oven misses fitting into one of the cabinets by 1/4″ — which means I’ll offer it at a good price to Anita, Chris’ cooking class guru. She has a place that would be perfect in her kitchen, and she’d use it!

Didn’t get back to the apartment until eight. Thank god there is chicken left over from last night. At least dinner will be quick.

More to do tomorrow.
