Today’s meeting was much more than I was expecting — the entire Schroderer-Chambers Group at Citi Smith Barney showed up for the meeting. Mind you, that is only three of us in the conference room (down indoor stairs from the 52nd to the 51st floor of Two Union Square)… unless you count their Administrative Assistant — who was sent to Tully’s for a latte for me. Silly me — I thought they had a machine in the office so when they suggested latte — I said “sure”. By the time I left at noon — no will signed, but new beneficiaries on two accounts — my head was spinning.
Head spinning? My answer? Home Depot for insulation, flashing, and caulk. That done — then it’s off to the garage and play with power tools after checking out a store in Georgetown that I’d seen from the Corson/Michigan exit off the freeway called WoodCraft — basically, it’s a woodworkers toy store. The fact that I got out of there for under $10.00 is amazing. Purchase? One 12″ lazy susan ring for the stack of electronic equipment under the TV. Currently I can turn the TV to face my bed (from the living room), but not the DVD/CD players.
And our headline for day — “My Kingdom For An Electric Drill”? I could have finished at least one of the two projects that I cut wood for today if I had my electric drill — which is at the church for the “potting shed” project. Damn.
Here is the wood (and lazy susan hardware) for the electronics swivel.
And here is the wood for the living room “leave it” table — you know, that place where you “leave” everything when you are coming in the front door. Keys. Mail. In the photo it’s almost laid out as to how it will look.
At $200 a sheet for bamboo plywood, I’m going to use every bit of it. I have now gotten the following out of two sheets of that damned expensive plywood:
- twelve feet of kitchen counters (half of that is 32″ deep!)
- TV stand swivel
- electronics stand swivel
- front hallway “drop it” table
- cheese boards (from anything left)
All that out of two sheets of bamboo plywood.
