Another day of dealing with chicken stock (and the leftover meat with broth for a soup dish), dealing with trying to get an event registration process working, dealing with those last minute packing things, and trying to arrange to cook dinner for someone who I don’t know their arrival time.
But in the mist of this, a video, courtesy of Jimmy, that I finally got around to watching. Here, in tribute to all my friends in Portland, and to Vava Pussy who just completed a KickStarter $10K round of funding, I give you Portlandia….
Dinner tonight with Solus (a.k.a. the Mon Senior) is pork chops smothered in spicy Cajun BBQ sauce, some steamed asparagus, a salad, a little body of Christ, a little blood of Christ.
Damn fine.
Unlike my 4:45am trip to the airport tomorrow morning. I passed on the offer of a $745 upgrade to first class… one that would have been free if I still had my United Premier status… yes, there is a reason I fly for no reason just to keep status on airlines.
I’ve packed both buffalo and squid jerky for the “emergency coach supplies”.
Clean up the place, run to the Eastside to drop off a check (thanks Swanda), and come home to… chicken stock, lots of chicken stock. Between deboning in the morning, in the fridge for 8 hours to get the fat to the top for skimming, and taking a break from programming a website to skim and put it into containers to freeze overnight… a day a greasy hands (well, not the programming part). The containers in the freezer are filled with ½ cup of stock – making them perfect for only having to unthaw what you need. In my case that would be one puck per 1# batch of challah.
What I can’t believe about today is that I spent 5 hours trying to program this PayPal interface so that come summer, the Radical Faeries can pay for summer camp online. My problem is that I need to host the button so that I can have three distinct items on the invoice:
A variable amount $50-$350 that the user fills in
A drop down menu with either $0 for no bedding, $16 for single bedding, or $22 for double bedding
A $10 convenience fee that goes on everyone’s invoice.
Didn’t get it to work, still researching, and tomorrow I’ll see if I can do it from the registration side. Good thing this isn’t due for a couple of months!
In the midst of all that, the leftover salad from last night and a reasonable sized (unlike most of the others in the freezer) steak, a little red wine, and back to coding.
Taxes in the mail to the CPA. Two days ahead of schedule… my plan was to get them in the mail before leaving for Ireland on Tuesday.
A call and a flour delivery from Jeff – which is good because I was down to about three pounds. Tonight is bread done all the way in the bread maker I bought yesterday – the test to see if the heating element actually works… which I’m happy to say that it does. I don’t like the style of loaf it makes, but will be OK for toast in the morning.
Dinner tonight was with DancingBear – a vertically roasted chicken stuffed with limes, rice, gravy from the drippings (DB made that, not me, not my specialty, but damn good), and a salad so we at least had some greens.
I had forgotten that there was a Sauna Night party for those faeries not going to the Winter Breitenbush Gathering… and it was just down the street.
Now THIS is one colorful burka!
I missed the spa mud session, but did manage to get in a nice steam. Nice way to end the evening before strolling home.
Just lots of miscellaneous things today here in the hood. A little work, a little shopping, a little package pickup.
And just in case you need a picture of the hood, I found this online courtesy of the South Park Business Association:
It’s a really nice wide-angle view of the industrial and residential nature of my neighborhood.
After picking up wine from Bonny Doon at the apartment, on a lark I swung by the remodeling Salvation Army now that they have expanded parking…. And snagged a replacement bread machine for $9.99 – or at least that’s what I thought it was… turns out if was 50% off. $5.34 with tax. Now I can return DancingBear’s machine that he loaned me after I actually managing to use one into the ground.
Grocery Outlet, then the liquor store… and home to put away the goods…. But a nagging item from earlier and the week was still with me… a Thermador warming oven that I saw at Second Use. A deal at $45 dollars… now where to put it, or just build a case for it to make it “portable”. And I hooked up a decapitated (thank you meth-crazed copper thieves) extension cord.
But really, it’s about getting some food in my tonight and continuing on the “tax saga”…. The Smith-Barney 1099 showed up today. Now it’s up to me, a pinwheel steak, a salad, some wine, and a lot of whiskey to finish those taxes…. Is whiskey deductible when you use it to prepare your taxes?
Needless to say, I slept in this morning as I didn’t get a floor nap in like Julian did last night…
Out of the house at noon to go pick up train ticket (and get a better seat by showing up way early), then walked next door to Wilf’s for half of one of their seafood salads – just the tonic I needed after the MeatFest™ of last night. Apparently Wilf’s has a nice reputation as an evening jazz club/restaurant. Got to check it out some time.
Considering I only had my rolling briefcase I’m surprised that I got yesterday’s Fred Meyer 60% off lowest tagged price scores packed in the bag – two $9.99 dress shirts, one $11.99 dress shirt, and one $11.99 winterish jacket (for the Ireland trip since I busted the zipper on my Antarctica jacket).
Train left on time – at 2:50, but apparently without any salads or sandwiches… but plenty of microwave hotdogs and cheeseburgers… and between LoveChild who I ran into on the train, and I, we were draining their whiskey supply. Jack Daniels, killed all they had. Jim Beam, killed them all – I stopped before resorting to Canadian Club… that’s the problem when a train starts running late.
We were due in at 6:15pm… in reality, 7:30pm, and by the time I caught the bus home (conveniently located across from the train station with no transfers) it was 8:15…. Making me glad I’d had one of those cheeseburgers at 5.
Nice to be home… waiting for the house to heat back up as I turned it down to 58 while I was gone.
A wonderful steak and egg scramble with Solus this morning… and we were only half an hour late getting out of the house (9:30 vs. 9:00) – still made it to Julian’s house in Portland by noon… and found him playing hooky from Portland State University for the day.
Off to my new favorite restaurant in Portland – the Fishwife Café… it really does look like your basic diner/dive, but the food is stunningly good, and now they have a full bar. Last time I was here was dinner with Jamshed last summer before he transitioned to a different plane. Julian had the Cajun fish salad ($10), and I had the Lunch Special Fish and Chips ($5.50 for two pieces of cod served with waffle cut fries – and just the right amount to fill you up, but not grease/stuff you) and one of the best Maker’s Mark Manhattans that I’ve had in years – heavy on the bitters.
Julian attempted to spend the rest of the afternoon doing his homework reading… he’d get two pages and fall asleep… maybe tomorrow.
The plan for tonight’s MeatFest is to grill many pounds of sausage products (half of which Julian stuffed himself) to compliment the cheese and cracker platter, and the crock pot full of Smokies® cooked in a Welchs® Jelly and Chili Sauce mix. Oddly enough, this will be the second time in the last couple of months for this recipe… last time was at Whistler for White Trash food night.
Although the suggestion for a “toga” theme had been batted around, Julian thought that was asking a bunch for people to dress up… luckily two guys showed up in costume and talked Julian into joining them.
The movies on tap for tonight are:
Caligula
Dogma
Blue Velvet
The Last Temptation of Christ
Salo: The 120 Days of Sodom
The Passion of Christ
All big budget controversial movies…. We got through Caligua (and maybe one more – I’m a bit foggy about that) before we started playing with the Smokies ®
Needless to say, it was a late night. Good thing the train back tomorrow isn’t until 2:50pm.
A little further along in taxes… have highlighted all the business/home deductions on the statements, next step, getting them into the spreadsheet. Now I just need to find the Smith Barney end-of-year 1099 form since it wasn’t in the 4 inch high stack of crap from them over the last year.
Solus (The Priest in question) was scheduled for a 2pm arrival, then it moved to 4pm, and he showed up at 5pm. Today is his first day as a retired priest – and nothing says retirement like a nice steak dinner, a little cole slaw, some fresh out of the oven bread….
And the delay allowed me to get his bed cleared off, and 5 or 6 more “travel books” printed and bound. Even got the kitchen tidied up.
Baked two loaves and we took one of loaves to Missy (end of the block from me) who is recovering from cancer surgery… she looked amazingly good for someone who had a massive growth and a bunch of other parts removed.
No picture today… I guess I could have taken a picture of all the luggage stacked up, marked:
Finally figured out how to hang my small, but growing, collection of license plates.
After I took the picture I realized I should put two rings between them so there is a little more space between.
Had to run to the Eastside because my bank, in it’s infinate wisdom, sent me a new debit/cash card — with a useless PIN number, and the only way to fix it was going to the bank and having them reprogram it — seems anyone who had aa custom PIN number on their card, when they got their new cards, it reverted to their old non-cusomt PIN. They SAY they have fixed the problem — remind me in three years when it’s time for another replacement.
Tax update… got all the statements in date order.
Dinner update … invited myself to Jim and Suzes for a Tamale Dinner. Yet another evening of not having to cook in my own kitchen.
Starting the tax season… by sorting through the stack of papers….
Before After
Now I just need to put them in date order and get out the highlighter to go through all the credit card and bank statements looking for business expenses, and gathering all the household costs to split for the home office deduction. And my CPA retired, so I have her replacement. I hate breaking in new people. Hopefully I can do this without a sit-down appointment.
Looks like I’m on a streak of not cooking in my own kitchen…. Tonight is dinner with Anne and Tim and a tour of their new place… oh, and picking up what seems like 40# of Christmas gifts for the Caseldons of Dublin (Ireland, not Ohio). The Simpsons book is the killer at over 8 and a half pounds… luckily Mindy is the size of an otter-pop so the four pairs of jeans don’t take up much space (add socks and slippers for Jeff, and a Coach bag and you have half of my suitcase taken up. Good thing I’m only there for a handful of days (6).
Today’s picture is of one of the light fixtures in Anne and Tim’s house – serious mid-century, and in great shape (and a great shape)…
It’s unfortunate that the shots of the kitchen and hallway fixtures didn’t come out… damn camera phone.
A great dinner of rotisserie chicken, stuffing, gravy, veg, yum….
And it a great tool for getting a walking tour of the chapel without the tourists…. Thanks Dan for the link.
Woke up hung over in Olympia with a few less dollars in the bank, piggy. Burger (no fries) on the way home… to deal with stuff, new bank cards, activate – get screwed when making deposit – pin number didn’t roll over… crack, then dinner at Micks – spaghetti with a nice meat sauce… lean on the tomatoes which give me heart burn.
Today is all about making a poker game that I haven’t been to in a couple of months….
My job is to get out of the house about 1pm before the traffic gets bad. And hit Safeway in Lacey on the way. And gas.
I’m cooking dinner tonight for Curt and I, and we are both wishing that Dave who used to live upstairs from Curt would come to dinner – but he is in Cambodia serving with the Peace Corps… a noble cause, teaching English as they don’t want to deploy lawyers in 3rd world countries to teach US style law.
There is a great link to his experience in Cambodia at:
And to think, I was thinking of a posting in the Peace Corp – I’m guessing that marketing guys get city assignments – that turtle soup scared the crap out of me (well, that and the bathroom scene – been there, done that).
Dinner was chicken thighs in BBQ sauce in the oven, some coleslaw, some bog turd rolls, lots of Curt’s good wine.
Something about travelling means you spend the day after your return doing laundry… load after load. Clean sheets, clean shirts, socks, the works.
And making bread for a dinner with Swanda tonight:
Yes, the rolls sort of look like dog turd. The fact that they are rye doesn’t help the look any. But tasty.
Before dinner was picking up a package – a new monitor for the living room server. Now if I can just find a driver to use it in the vertical position.
Speaking of dinner – here is part of a decimated steak, the cole slaw already gone.
I’d originally planned on making bar-b-qued chicken (in the oven), but Swanda pleaded for steaks after this trip to CanadaLand and the condo in Victoria shared with a pescatarian… he was jonezing for some dead cow. I actually took this picture send to Bug (the non-pescatarian guest).
What a day… the red-eye got into Bellingham at a little before 7am. Ug. Cab to Johnnie’s place… and instantly I’m in bed… did I even take my clothes off? Shoes I remember. I do remember microwaving the stale Sausage Breakfast Burrito from my trip TO Bellingham last week when I was too sick to eat it. A cheese plate on one end and a warm Danish on the other do not make enough food for a meal in 1st Class if you ask me.
Four hours later I’m semi-human – at least enough to pack my bags into Johnnie’s car and crawl into the front seat – to sleep most of the two hour drive back to Seattle.
Of course when I arrive at the apartment, the office is closed… back open at 2. Guess it’s time for lunch.
The package I’m expecting… the stuff I ordered while in Hawaii. A Pignose® portable amp and some lessons for the Ukulele that I bought in Waikiki a couple of trips ago. The trip to the ukulele factory got me motivated.
That would be the Pignose® sitting on the arm of the couch – it can run on batteries, and yes, the Ukulele is electric, who knows what I was thinking when I bought it, might as well learn to use it.
Surprisingly I didn’t go back to bed when I got settled in at the house – a long shower helped.
A stuffed pork chop and slaw for dinner (after a supply run to the store)… a glass or three of wine, missing the warmth, but happy to be on my own couch.
SurfBetty no surf this morning… something about sleeping in – in anticipation of a red-eye flight back to the mainland this evening at 10:30pm.
As we look back on the week plus, this shot never got posted, and SurfBetty finally agreed to it. It’s a take on the old Coppertone® commercial from years ago:
It was from his first day of surfing, and the resulting burn from where he missed slathering up.
Got to go pack, I’ll update this at the airport later today…. Come back for the update.
EARLY EVENING UPDATE!!!!!!!!
A lovely lunch at the Pink Palace, a.k.a. the Royal Hawaiian — SurfBetties only previous Hawaii experience… no kitchenettes but I’m guessing a much better view.
SurfBetty had the Royal Greek Salad, I opted for the poke trio (octopus, shrimp, ahi) — apparently that seafood poisoning isn’s stopping me from having seafood.
Back to the hotel to lay about the pool and lobby area — SurfBetty went to return some coral to the beach as I mentioned something about it being bad JuJu to take rock or coral off the island.
Shuttle was 15 minutes late, but still got us to the airport by 6:45pm (for our 10:30pm flight). And that crazy Alaska doesn’t open it’s check in counter until three hours before flights, and we had to check-in with all the luggage we had This has happened before and it’s a gripe…. that and the fact that it took THREE terminals to finally find one that would print our boarding passes — really — one of the machines wasn’t even loaded with paper for either of the printers attached.
Baring that MINOR snafu — by 7:30pm we were in the Delta Sky Room having drinks courtesy of the reciprical agreements between Delta and Alaska Airlines.
And who knows — now that FaceBook is free on Alaska through the end of February, might post from 30,000 feet before we get our of range. Aloha Waikiki, hello Bellingham — luckily I can slept in the car on the way down (and while SurfBetty packs for his cleaning trip to Seattle.
Starting to work our way through the leftover food in the fridge… the last two eggs for breakfast, and a bagel with a salmon shmear. Yum.
Overcast in the morning, but perfect for hanging out on the Lanai working on the J.K. Jance detective novel.
2pm found me craving a meal out so down the street to Tiki’s I went – it’s on the second floor of the Aston Waikiki with a nice view of the beach. Oddly enough, my visit coincided with happy hour (2-5pm) so a couple of margaritas on the rocks to go with my grilled pastrami on rye – terribly Hawaiian, don’t you think.
Got back and settled in on the Lanai… and then the maids came… off to the pool with me, let them work in peace.
And at the pool is where it happened… I finished the book. Six hours to knock off 345 pages of pulp fiction… after taking a week to slog through 181 pages of religious texts. I wonder which was better for my soul?
The Girlz called for cocktails on their rooftop deck, so off I went – that will also make the Jameson last through the evening. And I was able to get a better flamingo shot looking down on the Honolulu Zoo…
SurfBetty was out on his last surf run of the trip unless he goes early in the morning.
Dinner was leftovers… got to get rid of the rest of the gin, whiskey, and wine… though when you put your glass in the ice bucket while having wine with dinner… it tends to end up like this:
That’s it for today for tomorrow brings the return to the doom and gloom of winter in Seattle.
What fun reading the tale of Johnnie’s return to Wiakiki as SurfBette, with Unc Markie cooking up tasty vitals ala kitchenette style. I love the cook’s supply run and great touch with the sardine can/butter dish. As I recycle often wonder about those big plastic lids as they could supply a household with dishes.
Today was the first overcast day of our visit – pretty amazing considering it’s the rainy season. SurfBetty was back from the beach at 8:30 this morning – the water was just too rough and it was beating him up, blowing him all over the place, and generally just fatiguing him.
Breakfast was toast and a couple of sunny side up eggs (didn’t break either of the yokes this time), lunch was a couple of roll-ups made from last night’s jambalaya which had soaked up all the liquid while stored overnight in the fridge.
Finally finished The Thirteen Petalled Rose by Adin Steinsaltz – A Discourse on the Essence of Jewish Existence and Belief…. How’s that for some light vacation reading… seven days to get through 181 pages of dense material… rereading paragraphs when my mind started to wander. In the second to the last chapter, entitled Mitzvot, one of the easier chapters, I came across this lovely quote…
“Eating is not a hedonistic act, it is a ceremony.”
Next up is the J.A. Jance, J.P. Beaumount mystery, A More Perfect Union…. Much more like beach reading. Now if the sun will just come back!
SurfBetty was back in the water in the afternoon with the fins and snorkel which I was planning on leaving here – but SurfBetty is going to haul home, though probably in the backpack I picked up yesterday. No late afternoon surf since the conditions are just too choppy – didn’t make for good snorkeling either.
But at 6:30 we are off to a Hula presentation on the beach, just a couple of blocks from the hotel. Well, SurfBetty was down there… I started watching 60 Minutes with John Gotti (captivating) and was getting ready to head out the door when a huge squall rolled in and according to SB they shut down all the electricity to the stage… so no Hula for me. Glad I was slow to leave the room.
This is a SurfBetty shot from last night’s show. And of parrots nibbling on them….
And here is where we are hoping to have lunch on our final day, the Pink Palace, a.k.a. The Royal Hawaiian.
The Sheraton Waikiki is next door – they were just building it when SurfBetty was here at 13 – 40 years ago.
Dinner tonight is saffron rice with mushrooms and onions, and chicken thighs with a little BBQ spice on them, fried in the Wonder Skillet™, with the rice done in the Pyrex Dutch Oven. More Kitchenette Kooking™ tips!
As I was getting dressed this morning I realized that I haven’t worn long pants all week. It’s a nice feeling.
Today’s mission is to hit the Hilo Hattie giant tent sale. Don’t know what was wrong with the shuttle bus, but it took almost 50 minutes for it to show up at the stop down the street.
Big deals were to be had in their parking lot under the tent – tons of $9.99 shirts all the way up to 5x… some (like one of the ones I got – the red one) marked down from $53.99.
The only problem for me was that the2XL selection was pretty well picked over – apparently there are a lot of chunky guys here in Hawaii. The sandals were $2.99, the backpack $8.99 and the license plates and T-shirt were from previous shopping expeditions.
Got a little sun in the afternoon before turning my attention to dinner. And here is your Kitchenette Kooking™ tip of the day… use the frozen cubes of chicken stock to keep the ahi and octopus pupu platter chilled.
Dinner tonight was a jambalaya with Portuguese sausage and a side salad – after the substantial pupu platter after SurfBetty returned from his late afternoon surf.
Couldn’t bring myself to get out of bed early, or make breakfast – just headed out the door at nine to make a 10:30 ukulele factory tour. Didn’t think it would take an hour and a half to get across town… but the bus service is a wee bit slow, and a wee bit crowded. What I don’t understand is why they don’t put articulated buses on the 19/20 routes since it always packed.
Got to the factory a little before ten, checked in, and then headed out to find a snack – oddly enough with a Japanese woman also waiting for the tour. She comes for a month every February with her husband who plays tennis all day.
Our tour guide (below) is the 87 year old son of the founder of Kamake Hawaii. He was a little surprised that there were half a dozen people on the tour – on a sunny day. Usually it’s the rainy days that bring the large numbers.
They manufacture a little over 4000 ukuleles a year, and when they move later this year to a more efficient building, that number will go to 5000+. You can see how squeezed they are in this shot…
The 30-45 minute tour ended up taking an hour and a half – lots of reminiscing and family history included (his four sons are involved in the business as well). Well worth the time.
And speaking of time, when I got on the bus this morning… at a little after nine, I was given a transfer that was good until 3:45pm – well in advance of the two hours you are supposed to get, so I used the transfer to come home.
Lunch at L&L – BBQ Chicken and Beef Curry Combo – chicken good, beef was stringy and a little dry, mac salad awesome.
A little time around the pool, waited a little too late and the sun went behind the building so I headed back to the room to start cocktail hour.
Dinner tonight is sort of a canton noodle shabu shabu with green onions, thinly sliced beef, and bok choy, with a salad on the side. The broth was the 2nd third of the chicken stock we made early in the trip. Damn tasty.
Notice the top of the roasted chicken container repurposed into a salad bowl (and then after dinner, it was back to being the fruit bowl). And for our final shot of the day… a very stuffed refrigerator…
SurfBetty was up and out early… the routine continues… but now with a new twist… I can actually cook a decent breakfast. Yesterday’s score of the electric skillet ($5 !!!)
Too bad I broke the second yolk… and speaking Kitchenette Kooking™, notice the butter “dish” at the upper right hand side of the skillet – it’s a washed out smoked oyster tin.
Nothing on the agenda today other than spending a little time in the sun and continuing my readings on Jewish Mysticism … such nice light vacation reading.
The Girlz called at cocktail hour to invite us up to their rooftop deck… I accepted, but SurfBetty headed back to the beach for another surf session – and I used this as an opportunity to copy the SurfBetty CD from the first day with the professional’s shots of SurfBetty in action.
Back at the room we used a third of the chicken stock (the rest has been frozen into ice cubes in the single tray they provided) to make an Italian Sausage Dirty Cajun Rice dish with a side salad (leftovers from this will be used for lunch time roll-ups).
SurfBetty will be taking on the Pyrex Dutch Oven, and I’ll be packing the skillet and the omelette mold with me… replacing the fins, snorkel, and masks I’m leaving behind.
Very quickly settling into a routine here… SurfBetty gets up at 5:30am, get’s the coffee made, gets his breakfast in him and then is out the door as the light is starting to break over the horizon. It’s the quiet time on the water in terms of people, and closest to the low tide, so better waves are coming in. Today’s waves were at 0-1 feet, 1-2 feet expected in for tomorrow.
Me, I sleep in, wake up to hot coffee, have my quiet time, work on the blog and basically putter until SurfBetty is back from the beach around 10 or so.
The Girlz, a.ka. Dos Lesbinas, have borrowed a car from their local friends – as we find out during the day of driving, a truly local “Hawaiian Jalopy”. Definition – a car that still runs, but many of the things on the car don’t work, but there are too many things wrong with it to justify the cost of fixing it. The list…
Power steering pump is shot – drives like a battleship
Speedometer intermittent
Owner filled it up with oil in front of the Girlz’ condo when dropping it off for them
But the radio and air conditioning work, unlike their other car they offered – and, all-in-all, don’t look a gift car in the mouth. If it gets dinged, no big deal – smashed, bigger deal, but not much.
First stop is Leonards for these Portuguese filled donut things called malasadas. I’m not much of a donut fan, but the are damn tasty – and always fresh out of the fryer.
Up the HI to the old North Shore highway (99) with a stop in Haleiwa for refreshments for some, and Hawaii license plates for myself and Julian (nice ones – state vehicle plates at 50% off).
Next stop was Pipeline – the famous North Shore surfing spot. We really lucked out here… easy parking for “The Battleship” and a shady spot on the beach to watch the surfing.
Jeanne and SurfBetty thought about trying out the boogie boards we had with us – I was making the argument that when there are two red flags flying (no swimming and serious rip tides) that it might be best left to the pros.
Next up it is shrimp truck time …. First up, Giovanni’s north end location (south end location just south of old Haleiwa town):
$13 for a plate of Shrimp Scampi with a side of hot dipping sauce, two scoops of rice and a wedge of lemon. Damn messy, damn tasty.
Back to Pipeline to see how the waves had changed in a couple of hours… the rest of the crew on the beach, me at a picnic table watching the White Rasta massage guy work over surfers.
With a quick stop at a fruit stand, we are off to the other famous (of many) shrimp trucks to try the deep fried coconut shrimp at Macky’s.
Ambiance wasn’t as good as Giovannis, but the coconut shrimp were very rich – we just got the shrimp, not the sides, so we each had two shrimp, which was perfect – I can’t imagine how I’d feel after eating an entire plate of shrimp that rich.
We take the direct route back to Honolulu (H2 to H1) to save a little time, but it still doesn’t stop us from getting caught in rush hour traffic on the way back to Kmart/Salvation Army on a supply run for the Girlz. They need glassware, a plunge blender (for smoothies) and a yoga mat… and I, of course, have to see if there are any new shirts or maybe even an electric griddle.
Jeanne snagged two glasses, I got a Hawaiian Airlines wine glass for my collection, and most importantly, I found a really cheap (because of one broken handle) electric skillet — $5.00! And it works – plugged it in and 5 second later the thing was getting toasty. Score! I guess that means tomorrow’s post will all be about kitchenette cooking.
After a further supply run to Safeway (with Jeanne parked for half an hour in the loading zone because of the steering) we were all frazzled and ready to part company after a long, lovely day.
SurfBetty and I ended up just having a poo-poo platter around 8 and calling it dinner, and then called it a night.
How long will you be gone?
Back next Monday… short trip.
